Grassington Festival – (15 – 30 June 2018)
Grassington Festival is15 Days of Music and Arts in the Yorkshire Dales and has been listed at one of the Best UK Family Festivals in the Guardian.
Grassington Festival has the vision and wherewithal to bring a diverse range of world class artists to this tiny rural idyll, so that the people of Grassington have access to the best performances we can conjure.
We are for and of Grassington – a vibrant mix of community projects working with the young and the elderly around Grassington, i.e. A Band Anyone Can Join: we worked with Hope & Social and the good good people of Grassington – children and adults – across two months leading up to the festival teaching them how to be in a band, playing ukuleles, ringing bells, singing their throats sore and culminating in a headline gig on the festival’s Town Hall stage on the opening weekend of the Festival. This performance was broadcast on East Leeds FM and filmed by Logistik.
We brought Ida Barr, Victorian Music Hall superstar rapper into care homes and schools and sang and danced together – culminating in the Carnival Parade, joining A Band Anyone Can Join in a big Mash Up in Festival Square. We brought Ukulele players from across the North to Jam on the Green with the Ossett Ukulele Philharmonia.
We bring free events to Festival Square – music and street theatre, food festival. We have a mix of theatre, dance, poetry and music for all pockets, for young and old, events for all tastes including speakers, workshops and walks.
And we attract visitors from around the world to the village with a broad mix of artists from top comedians such as Jack Dee, and first rate musicians Black Dyke Band and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra to the Festival Marquee.
